Frequently Asked Questions and Other Random Musings…
How much will it cost?
Oil on board portraits start at $290 for a 20x20cm painting, $350 for 25x25cm and $400 for 31x23cm.
Pencil on paper portraits start at $150 for A5
Cost will increase based on size, number of pets within one painting/drawing and complexity (e.g. detailed background)
Do I have to pay upfront?
No. I do require a 20% deposit to start painting with the balance payable before shipping (I’ll provide photos to ensure you’re happy with the final result)
How much does it cost to ship?
Shipping within Australia is included in the price. If you’re overseas just drop me an email letting me know your city/country and I’ll provide a quote.
What size paintings do you do?
I have three standard sizes I work with on wood board that work well with pet portraits: 20x20cm, 25x25cm and 31x23cm. I’m happy to discuss working on other sizes if you’ve got your heart set on something bigger or smaller.
What size drawings do you do?
Any size up to A3
How long does it take?
It really depends how many commissions I have in the pipeline. Just drop me an email or give me a call and I can give you an idea. It’s also worth bearing in mind that oil paint needs at least a couple of weeks to dry enough to be able to ship.
I don’t have a pet but I love animals…
I love painting wild animals, aussie native animals, farm animals, pretty much any animal! Just let me know what you love and I can work from an image you send or I can source one for you
My pet has passed away but I’d still love to have a painting…
No problem at all so long as you have at least one good photo
Can you paint my friend’s/auntie’s/nephew’s/postman’s pet for me to give as a gift?
Of course! So long as you can get me some photos 😉
I have a picture of my pet that I love but the background is a bit crazy…
I usually replace any background with a plain background so if you don’t like the background in your photo that’s no problem. If however you love that crazy background I can incorporate that but there will be an additional cost for the extra time needed.
Do I need to provide professional photos?
No! Professional photos are great but mostly I work from photos people have taken with their smartphone.
What kind of photos work best?
Generally photos at your pet’s eye level, filling the frame are good. Good light is important too. To be honest though if you have a favourite photo of your pet there’s a good chance it’ll be good to work from.
How many photos do I need to send?
I like to have a few to look at if possible. Even if you’re sure which photo you want me to work from, it helps me to see a few so I can get a sense of your pet’s personality.
However, if you want me to paint your favourite animal but it’s not your pet then I can source that for you (who doesn’t love a tiger? I’ve heard they don’t make great pets though!)
I’m still not sure how this all works…
Don’t stress! Just send me an email or give me a call, we can figure it out together!
